I’ve had my Macbook Air 13” for almost 2 year now. It is easily the best laptop I’ve had for the overall experience, though it is also my first time “living” with OSX.
Build quality is great. No creaks or flexing, feels solid. Battery life is OMG-good. Responsiveness is excellent, though a lot of that can be attributed to the SSD. The Magsafe charging cord is a very slick safety idea.
The track pad just blows away every other laptop I’ve tried. It is the first track pad where I haven’t felt forced to carry a wireless mouse around. I’m sure some of that is OSX gesture control but a big chunk of it is simply how well the surface feels to my finger, how big the pad is, and how it detects gestures so much faster and more reliably than any other touch pad I’ve had. Keyboard is as good as any laptop this size I tried (and not all are as nicely backlit).
Mine is a base model. For home internet and office tasks that 4 GB of RAM has never felt like a constraint. I can see where the screen is “meh” but I find it perfectly acceptable and a huge step up from the smaller Lenovo X120e I had last. Definitely gets ‘r done for me.
I put a 64 GB microSD card in a “Nifty Minidrive” for extra storage in cosmetically pleasing package (flush to the side of the laptop). My only complaint with it is Time Machine won’t play nice with it as a second back-up location. No idea why but it will create a first-time back-up just fine then fail to create any incrementals. Not a big deal as I have an external drive for TM that works fine.
